You can write the perfect ad and still lose the sale on the landing page. People click because they expect something specific. If the page does not deliver it quickly, they leave. Before any budget goes live, run through this checklist.

Does the page match the ad?

The headline should echo the promise in the ad. If the ad mentions a free consultation, the page should make that offer obvious in the first screen. A mismatch makes people feel they have landed in the wrong place.

The checklist

  1. One clear goal. Decide what you want the visitor to do and remove anything that distracts from it.
  2. A headline that says what you offer. Clever lines are fine, but clarity comes first.
  3. A visible call to action. Place it near the top and repeat it further down on longer pages.
  4. Short forms. Ask only for what you genuinely need at this stage.
  5. Proof that feels real. Use genuine reviews, certifications or examples of your work, never made-up ones.
  6. Fast loading on mobile. Test on a real phone with an ordinary connection.
  7. Readable text. Check font size, contrast and line length on small screens.
  8. Working tracking. Submit a test form and confirm the conversion is recorded.
  9. A clear privacy notice. Explain how you use the details people share.
  10. A sensible thank-you page. Tell people what happens next and when.

Test one change at a time

Once the basics are in place, you can start improving. Change one important element, such as the headline or the form length, and give it enough time and traffic to show a real difference. Changing five things at once tells you something moved, but not why.

Keep an eye on the whole journey

A landing page is only one step. Look at what happens after the form is sent. Are leads followed up quickly? Do sales conversations match what the page promised? Sometimes the best landing page fix is actually a faster reply.

A strong landing page makes every ad work harder, so it is worth the effort before you scale spend. If you would like a fresh pair of eyes on yours, the Northpeak team is happy to take a look with you.
