An integrated campaign uses several channels working together around one idea. When it works, each piece supports the others and the whole feels bigger than the sum of its parts. When it does not, you end up with a collection of disconnected activity. A clear planning process makes the difference.

Begin with the objective and the audience

Agree what the campaign is meant to achieve, such as launching a product, growing awareness in a new region or encouraging existing customers to try something new. Define who you most need to reach and what you want them to think, feel or do. Everything else follows from these decisions.

Build around one central idea

Integration starts with a single idea strong enough to work in different formats. Resist the temptation to create a separate concept for each channel. The idea should be recognisable whether it appears on a poster, in a short video or in an email subject line.

Map the journey

Think about how people will encounter the campaign over time. Some channels are good at creating awareness. Others are better for explaining detail or prompting action. A simple plan might look like this:

  1. Introduce the idea through high-visibility channels such as video, outdoor or social media
  2. Explain the offer in more depth through your website, content and PR
  3. Encourage action with targeted digital adverts, email and search
  4. Follow up with existing customers and new contacts to build loyalty

Make sure each step links naturally to the next, with consistent messages and clear signposts.

Plan production and timing together

Create a single timeline that shows every asset, deadline and launch date. Plan shoots and design work so assets can be adapted for several formats at once. This is usually more efficient than producing each piece separately. Build in time for approvals, testing and small fixes.

Agree how you will measure success

Decide in advance which measures matter for each stage of the journey, and how you will review them. Share results regularly so the team can adjust spend and creative while the campaign is running.

Integrated campaigns take careful coordination, but the result is a clearer and more memorable presence. If you are planning one and would like some support, get in touch with the Northpeak team for a conversation.
